Trip to Hampi

We drove from Bangalore to Tornagallu and stayed at Hotel Rock Regency just opposite JSW steel factory.
The drive took 5 hours with 2 breaks considering we travelled with a 1 year old and a 7 year old.

The accommodation was quite comfortable and so was the food at their in-house restaurant

We hired a guide for a whole day who would take to all the important locations and guide through the huge kingdom.

To simply put it to perspective, if the ruins of a kingdom of 13th century has such a grandeur in 2015, it is left to ones imagination how it would have been in those days.

There were well formed series of shops in Bazaar. Stages for performances for dignitaries to different states
The Ornate carvings depict the culture of the visitors culture as well as changing tradition of the empire

This is the land of the Ashtadiggajas of yesteryears.
The distant hillock in the pic below is where our famed childhood hero Tenali Rama used to compose his poetries. No doubt with such a beautiful and immaculately managed kingdom, talent has to flourish, culture has to thrive and literature has to exist.

Narasimha Swamy temple - A large monolith

Pillars of Vittala Temple - the detailing and carvings are worth admiring and appreciating the craftsmanship

The stone Chariot at Vittala Temple. We had to reach the Vittala temple complex via a battery operated car from Bazaar

A panorama of the Vittala Temple

Dusk at Thungbadra banks. There are coracle rides available for an hour on Thungbadra and it was an amazing experience visiting the cave temples accessible only by this mode.

Must visit place for history buffs and architecture aficionados and even 4 days would be less to explore the beauty of this place.

Enroute returning there is a stirring emotion and feeling as if you have time traveled and come back to reality when we hit the traffic :)

An experience to cherish!
