Dubai - land of excess and abundance

Much planned and much prepared trip to Dubai!
Luckily we had a friend who arranged for a studio with a kitchenette attached for our stay.

We packed our share of premix upma/poha/rice mixes/pickles. On landing we realised we do get everything without having to search much

We stayed at Discovery Gardens. Closest Metro station was Ibn Battuta which was very well serviced and connected by feeder bus service and taxis which run by meter.

We reached Dubai near midnight on 23rd Dec 2016

24th we set out to see Dubai mall early by Metro. Metro Station goes by the name of Dubai Mall.
The city is well organised and easy to navigate. There are separate Ladies coach in metros. The service is punctual. All Metro stations and major malls offer free wifi.. a modern day blessing :)

Considering the geography the city is completely AC except if you step out on your own in open road. Malls are all connected by travelators from Metro to Mall entrance in AC.

It is a city of what money and abundance of oil reserve can do!

Our plan was as follows considering the taste of the travelling party :) and very much kid friendly

Day 1: Dubai Mall Aquarium, Burf Khalifa at the Top, Evening fountain show, illumination

Day 2: Mall of Emirates - Ski Dubai - a white christmas in dessert paradise

Day 3: Childrens park and Gold Souk

Day 4: Motiongate Dubai and Abra Ride in Creek

Day 5:  IMG world of Adventure

Day 6: City tour - Palm Jumeira, Old Dubai Mosques

Day 7: Marina Mall

Evening Flight to Bangalore from Abu Dhabi

Ethihad offers city checkin and we availed to travel easy.


























Bye bye Gold City where there are ATMs which dispense Gold Biscuits:)

Trip to Hampi

We drove from Bangalore to Tornagallu and stayed at Hotel Rock Regency just opposite JSW steel factory. The drive took 5 hours with 2 breaks considering we travelled with a 1 year old and a 7 year old. The accommodation was quite comfortable and so was the food at their in-house restaurant We hired a guide for a whole day who would take to all the important locations and guide through the huge kingdom. To simply put it to perspective, if the ruins of a kingdom of 13th century has such a grandeur in 2015, it is left to ones imagination how it would have been in those days. There were well formed series of shops in Bazaar. Vertical city - Hong Kong 2018

Visited Hong Kong in 2007 and the memory has stuck of the vibrant vertical city. Busy, bustling, vibrant, vertical as far as your eyes can reach and  island country where you can see catch all known modes of transport in a single frame! Gateway to Oriental Asia, financial hub, all world famous banks and insurance firms has a building on its name here. Average height of any building is 50 floors possibly. Learnt from folks that for  drinking water supply, the water board equivalent of the country pumps the water to water tank atop a hill with all energy and might. Utilizing the gravity and pressure system water is automatically distributed to all the skyscrapers! You name a fashion house and cosmetic brand, chances are you may have tripped on Givenchy or a Burberry atleast once in your trip. HongKong is famous for its tall scrapers and amazing skyline.
